Honors English 2B

Prerequisites: English 1A and 1B, English 2A.

Considerations: This option is for 10th graders who seek enrichment in language arts. Honors English 2B is highly recommended for students who plan to take AP English Literature and Composition (11th grade) and DMACC Composition/AP English Language and Composition (12th grade).

Honors English 2B students cover the English 2B curriculum (see the 2B course description below). However, the honors section will provide students with more challenge and rigor. This course will develop the skills required for Advanced Placement English courses.

English 2B Course Description: English 2B develops skills in literary analysis, writing, speaking, and listening. Students will write a research paper and present at Parent/Teacher conferences in March. They also will read the play Antigone, the novel Anthem, a poetry unit, and participate in literature circles. This course also includes independent reading. Students practice writing skills, with particular emphasis on the literary analysis essay and argumentative research.
