All eyes were on me. I was training someone else’s content for the first time and I choked, defaulting to reading my notes. I had practiced once or twice and even tried to memorize bits of it, but it just wasn’t flowing naturally. This content was not part of my DNA and it showed!
Here are three tips to make someone else’s content your own:
3 tries before it flies. Sharing your points one on one at least three times before using it gives you experience, examples to use in your session and credibility.
2 stories will ease your worries. Fill your back pocket with two stories or experiences to substantiate your key points. You don’t need to share all of them, but this preparation will help the content flow naturally.
1 section for your reflection. Making someone else’s content personal will take time, energy and emotional investment. Focus on one topic or section at a time to build your confidence in that section.
