My name is Samantha Wright and I will be graduating from UMUC this Fall 2014 term with my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minor in Strategic and Entrepreneurial Management. I have also completed a Management Certificate at UMUC.Before I enrolled at UMUC, I graduated with an Associate’s degree from Montgomery College in May 2010 and completed my high school diploma from Albert Einstein in June 2010. Both degrees were memorable to me because I never thought I would be able to attain them both. Those degrees were the fuel to my fire- my desire to educate myself further. That’s when I learned about UMUC’s transfer scholarship designed for community college students transferring to UMUC.

Since enrolling at UMUC, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA, have been inducted into two honor societies, the National Society of Leadership and Success and Alpha Sigma Lambda, and have been chosen to be a mentor for other UMUC college students in the UMUC College Success Program. My lifetime career goal is to become a professor for UMUC. I have set my own short term and long term goals in order to obtain my lifetime career goal and my next step toward accomplishing that goal is enrolling in the dual degree Master’s program at UMUC. I love to learn, I love to encourage/help others to learn, and I love UMUC.

Aside from being a full time student, I am an army wife, mother of four children, part-time (hopefully soon to be full-time) worker, and volunteer. Other accomplishments I am proud of are being inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and the Renaissance Honors Society at Montgomery College, being awarded the 2007 English Foundation Award, and performing many public speaking events advocating for high school dropouts and young/teenage mothers. At one of the public speaking events, I had the honor of being the guest speaker for Mr. and Mrs. George HW Bush for their Celebration of Reading in front of 1,000+ guests. There are other esteemed accomplishments that I hold near and dear to my heart as well.
