Amos P. Godby High School Auditorium

Saturday, August 23, 2014, 3:00 to 6:00 PM

Tallahassee, FL 32303

India Association of Tallahassee (IATLH | www.iatlh.org) celebrated the 68th Indian Independence Day and 2014 Utsav (cultural program) at the Jeff Bradford Auditorium at the Amos P. Godby High School in Tallahassee, FL 32303. The program began with parents and family visiting from India standing at the podium and help unfurling the Indian national flag followed by singing of Indian national anthem and American national anthem.

It was followed by speech contest where four kids spoke on pre-selected topics for three minutes. The winner was announced just before the start of the cultural program. Following the speech contest, the cultural program began and featured group dances, group songs, and musical instrumental pieces. Then intermission followed.

Immediately following intermission, our Hindi skit Valmiki Ramayana was staged. The people who took part in the Hindi comedy skit were members of Learn Hindi. Our Hindi teacher S Dixit wrote a script of Valmiki Ramayan in Hindi. The skit went reasonably well despite some audio problems and my inability to get my props on properly. Then there were few more programs and the quiz.
