Cultural Glimpses of India 2010

13th Annual Event

Saturday, November 06, 2010

Chiles High School Auditorium, 4-7 PM

Tallahassee, FL 32312

The 13th Cultural Glimpses of India (CGoI2010) was held on Saturday, November 06, 2010 between 4 and 7:40 PM at Chiles High School Auditorium. This was the first year of this program when I was the President of India Association of Tallahassee (www.iatlh.org). My Executive Committee was full of new members, but they all did great job. In fact, the program went so well it looked like all my team members were experts since they did exceptional work. Their dedication, hard work, time spent on rehearsal, attention to minute details, the work of several volunteers, and help from the Trustees helped us pull off one of the successful Glimpses in the recent past.

One of our group members was also one of the four masters of ceremonies for the event during the first half of the program since our skit was in the second half. The two masters of ceremonies introduced the coordinators of the item, gave some description about the items and made some jokes about the items.

There were about two dozen individual items with an intermission lasting about fifteen minutes; there were about 13 items in the first half and about 11 items in the second half. The temperature outside was crisp and in the mid fifties and forties. It was also the last evening before we switch back from daylight saving time to standard time so it was dark bit earlier.

My own team did a social comedy skit called "Indians in Tallahassee". The skit was a continuation of the skit we did for Utsav/IndiaDay 2010 where we parodied the behaviors of Indian-American parents and the American-born children of Indian parents. It was well received at Utsav and this comedy was also well received. We had five people act in the skit. It was written, edited, and staged entirely by the local talent.
