Down at the bottom of this page for Enlightenment

Running it in Xnest to get screenshots to show you what you get .....

Since the Edevelop Repository went which was sound and easy to install from and worked properly

Easy Build E17 From Source Code

For the Script - This is good as of - 28 Mar 2008

I am using it ......

Here is the script - to save you searching -

it is for testing purposes

I can only help point you in a direction towards the latest files

Sourceforge - seems to be the place

and there link leads to this script

http://omicron.homeip.net/projects/#easy_e17.sh

For Traceability - This is where it originated from

http://download.enlightenment.org/tests/

And this is where this originated from

http://www.mail-archive.com/enlightenment-devel@lists.sourceforge.net/msg16781.html

And this is where this originated from

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=sLn&q=sourceforge+e17+2008&btnG=Search

(I tend to do these purely for myself - but hopefully they will be useful to others - thats why they are on here)

(I can then go install things for other people and as long as they have the internet I can get to my instructions)

That is why I have made this document

- to try to help save time -

- in searching for E17 -

when I tried to install it emphasis was missing - so I have edited it below

The above script fails on Emphasis -

so have removed it from that script above and redone it below

This is my own version but points directly to the sourceforge files - I thought it might be a more stable version

I tested it again last night and the link worked fine. (its still appears to have probs with ibar and ibox on my setup)

easy_17_2008.sh

copy to your drive

type chmod u+x easy_17_2008.sh

then type

./easy_17_2008.sh -i

or

./easy_17_2008.sh -u

(the -i means install and the -u means update)

It used to be a lot easier with the edevelop repository as root you used to type this in a terminal window

(Why there is not a uptodate stable version in the Debian Repositories I will never know)

apt-get install E17

Your almost there

_________

gedit /usr/share/xsessions/e17.desktop

This will open a text editor, paste the following lines:

[Desktop Entry]Encoding=UTF-8

Name=E-17

Comment=

Exec=/opt/e17/bin/enlightenment_start

Icon=

Type=Application

Now paste the following code in the terminal:

gedit /etc/environment

And add the following line at the end of the file:

CODE

PATH="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/opt/e17/bin"

There are a number of ways for Debian

- I added the repository below -

and this works fine but its limited to a few modules

(I used to use the edevelop one until it disappeared - the new one is available but not all there yet March 2008)

Add the text below to the end of the source list in /etc/apt/

## e17 repository from Elive

deb http://www.vobcopy.org/mirror/elive/ elive main efl elive

Afterwards type in sudo or as root

>apt-get update

>apt-get install elive
