Summary

I am impressed how people who never met before could develop so much trust, ideas and engagement. I am thankful for Edwin guidance.

Intention

With empathy, good ideas and effective methods I want to encourage people and organizations to use their influence, their knowledge, their creativity, their courage and skills to find ways to promote themselves and the community.

Sonja interviews Herbert

What expectations did you have of the empathy circle?

I had no specific idea .

I was more curious,

here in Germany we do the IDEO course “Human Centered Design”

What are the differences and similarities?

with our colleges we have a specific aim

we are interviewing companies on resilience

Here there is no aim

What methods is more comfortable for you?

personally having a aim is better for me

an open form like this is ok but I have to get used to it.

What was the most difficult parts for you?

to have the time for it.

3 hours is challenging

to be here and not have my thoughts here is challenging

Did you have thoughts to be somewhere else?

yes it happened and will happen

I’m a bit tired, I went to the club and went dancing.

I’m distracted, I have diabetes and I feel my body needs food

these take my thoughts away.

What went well?

I felt quite comfortable talking in English.

it is challenging but I feel good about it.

The language Barrier. did it influence you?

yes, there is this barrier. I think in German and talk in English. But after a while I start thinking in English.

Brainstorm

How Might We… close the gap between limited intellectual empathy and shared experience empathy?

    1. mindfulness trainings

    2. serenity exercises

    3. show feelings as a sculpture

    4. walk through the room without touching, get a feeling of the others aura

    5. global day of empathy (people do empathy circles around the world on that day)

    6. collecting empathy success stories
