Create An Online Empathic Design Kit

Similar to the Design Kit model. Create separate methods pages, each has a video instruction, as well as, a clean outline page of the process.

Create a Financial Model for Empathic Designers

If there was an income path for empathic designers then more people would join since they know they could make a living and be financially sustainable doing this.

Empathic Listening Card

in the team meeting have a series of cards that someone can play. If you don't feel heard you can play the 10, 20, 30 minutes of listening card. The team or the specific person agrees to do empathic listening for the allotted time.

Restorative Empathy Conflict Card

A card that each person in a community has and all community, family, work-group members agree that if the card is presented by someone in the community, they will take part in a restorative empathy with anyone invited.

How Heard Does You Feel - Meter

Each person has a meter that says how much they feel heard when they say they are heard after the empathic listening is done. This was inspired by people saying they are not really deeply heard even though they say they are heard during the empathic listening process.

New Design Approach

I have a different strategy now for the design challenge. Instead of starting with the board overwhelming design challenge of “How might we develop an empathic way of being?”

I start with the prototype of the empathy circle. Have people take part in the empathy circle for one hour and test it, and then we spend 2 hours redesigning it. It’s more tangible I think than starting with a broad design challenge. We keep developing and refining the empathy circle process.

So the empathy circle is the wheel that we continuously redesign to make it better at fostering an empathic way of being.
