The Baltimore SDIY Group & the 2010 RobotFest

Hello folks.

Once again it's that time of the year.

The Baltimore SDIY Group will be providing electronic music sound effects for the 2010 RobotFest on Saturday, April 24th 2010 from 10:00am to 3:00pm, which will be held at the National Electronics Museum, Inc. 1745 West Nursery Road Linthicum, Maryland www.nationalelectronicsmuseum.org.

This year's event is expected to draw around 1500 people. One of the event's coordinators is planning on having a lot of the exhibitors set up their display tables, etc outside of the museum in the parking lot area since there are a lot more exhibitors for this years event..

That being the case, we are not sure where our group will be set up. We're hoping to be in the Main Exhibition Hall area if possible, but we may be in their library area again as we were for the 2009 RobotFest, or we may be set up outside of the building. That logistical issue is being worked on now so we should know in a few days what the exact location will be & this website will be updated soon to reflect that information.

The Electronic Music will be provided by Baltimore SDIY Group's Logan Mitchell Sr, Dave Vosh, Greg Kist, Keith Sinzinger, Hal Schmulowitz & Art Harrison.

Starting this year, there is a suggested admission donation of $6 for adults, $3 for middle and high-school students. Children elementary school and younger are still free!

The MTA's #17 bus will take you to Elkridge Landing Road where you get off & walk up to the corner of Elkridge Landing Road & West Nursery Road, then walk up the small hill on West Nursery Road to the museum. Look for the large antenna displays on the side & in the front of this single-level building which is right next to the Marriott Hotel.

The #17 bus starts at Patapsco Light Rail station, marked as ARUNDEL MILLS, going to Arundel Mills mall, and runs once an hour on Saturdays from 6:30 am until 10:45pm. It also picks up & drops off passengers at the MTA Light-Rail train's BWI Business District stop, which is right around the corner from the museum

You must use the Light-Rail train that is marked BWI AIRPORT (Southbond direction) in order to get to the BWI Business District stop if your are traveling from a Northerly location. This particular Light-Rail train goes right to BWI Airport then stops just outside of the baggage claim area of the airport's lower level. If you are coming from a BWI Airport inbound flight, then the train will be marked either Penn Station or Hunt Valley, in which case the train is travelling in a Northerly direction & you are only one stop from the BWI AIRPORT stop to the BWI BUSINESS DISTRICT stop. Be sure to pay the $1.60 one-way fare at the MTA's ticket vending machine as the MTA's police force will randomly check to see that you've paid the fare. If you have not, they will gladly give you a citation just before they escort you off the train.

The MTA's base fare (http://www.mtamaryland.com/services/bus/fares/) is $1.60 one-way or $3.50 for a DAY PASS which is good on all MTA local buses, metro subway & light-rail trains from 5:00 am of the present day until 3:00 am the next day.

Metro Opens Doors to BWI with B30 Route - Catch Metrobus Express Route B30 at the Greenbelt station and ride to BWI Airport instead. A one-way trip is $3.00. If you ride Metrorail to Greenbelt, it's only $2.10 with a rail-to-bus transfer. Just remember to pick up your transfer when you enter the Metrorail system. If you ride a bus to Greenbelt, it's only $1.75 with a bus-to-bus transfer.

The B30 Express takes you directly to the lower level of the terminal, where you can also catch a return bus to the Greenbelt station. Buses run 25 times each weekday, 21 times on Saturdays and Sundays-about every 40 minutes.

This bus begins its 1st trip from the Greenbelt Metrorail station on Saturdays at 8:45 am arriving at the MTA Light-Rail's BWI Business District stop at 9:20 am with a 10 minute layover before it makes its return trip back to the Greenbelt MD Metrorail station. The last trip from the MTA Light-Rail's BWI Business District stop is at 10:45 pm arriving back at the Greenbelt Metrorail station at 11:21 pm.
