1st Baltimore SDIY Group Meeting 04122008 photos

Here are photos of the first Baltimore SDIY Group meeting on 04/12/2008 by its first two members, Logan Mitchell Sr & Dave Vosh. The meeting took place at The Golden Corral restaurant in Glen Burnie MD.

Dave & I had talked by email & by phone for several months before we finally met each other face-to-face. We showed each other our synthesizer modules & discussed related technical matters. Dave uses a Doepfer (www.doepfer.com) A-100 suitcase-style carrying case with corresponding Doepfer A-100 analog synthesizer modules & an MFB VD-01 Videoscope module (http://www.mfberlin.de/Produkte/Module/VD-01/VD-01e/vd-01e.html) that allows him to display his modular synthesizer's audio waveforms on a video monitor or a standard television set which can be quite impressive.

He also uses two Doepfer A-178 THER modules that allow him to get Theremin-like effects. He also uses a Doepfer A-198 TRC Trautonium/ Ribbon Controller module that can be played by moving your fingers along a ribbon-like appartus to get continuously smooth changes from note to note to note as opposed to a keyboard that gives you stepped changes from note to note.

I brought along my Dual Voltage Controlled Oscillator model DVCO-1 (VCO) & Dual White/Pink Noise Generator model DNG-1 analog modules as well as my 15 volt dc Power Supply model PS-15 that I designed & built. I have signatures on the rear panel of the Dual VCO that I graciously received from Keith Emerson, George Duke & Bernie Worrell, each of whom I met during separate concerts at Rams Head Onstage Tavern in Annapolis MD.

It was a very good meeting & Dave and I have become really good friends since then.

Logan
