Electronic music has been insinuating itself into the very fabric of popular culture for decades. From the ethereal sound of the Theremin to the completely modern sound of the Moog synthesizer, most people do not realize they have been listening to electronic music for years.

Please join the Baltimore SDIY Group, The Hexagon Space and an assemblage of talented musicians from the East Coast who will explore and push the very edge of experimental electronic music. This will be a day and evening filled with the sounds of electronic keyboards, handmade instruments and exotic modular systems.

Headlining the event will be Richard Lainhart, (http://www.otownmedia.com) a composer, performer, and filmmaker based in New York.

His compositions have been performed in the US, England, Sweden, Germany, Australia, and Japan. Recordings of his music have appeared on the Periodic Music, Vacant Lot, XI Records, ExOvo and Airglow Music labels and are distributed online via MusicZeit. As an active performer, Lainhart has appeared in public approximately 2000 times. Besides performing his own work, he has worked and performed with John Cage, David Tudor, Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Phill Niblock, David Berhman, and Jordan Rudess, among many others. He has composed over 100 electronic and acoustic works, and has been making music for forty years. Richard will be performing on the Buchla modular system.

The Baltimore SDIY Group (http://sites.google.com/baltimoresdiygroup) is based in Baltimore MD and is a 30 member group that has an avid interest in exploring & playing inside and outside the realms of electronic music. Several of our members have designed & manufactured our own electronic music modules and systems. Our members live in the Baltimore/Washington DC/Virginia regions. Please join us and bring an open mind and ears.
