1st Annual Baltimore Circuit Bent SDIY Festival 09132008 photos
This event was conceived by our group member Karl Ekdahl & his associate Josh Atkins. Karl was gracious enough to invite our group to perform at this 1st Annual Circuit Bent/8-Bit Festival which was hosted at The Hexagon Space which is a local club here in Baltimore MD. Karl & Josh are part of a collective group that hosts various shows at this venue on a regular basis.
Group member Jeff Brown brought his large analog modular synthesizer system, Karl performed some demos about circuit-bending techniques which requires you to modify your instrument's electronics to allow it to produce much more exotic sounds. He also stressed the importance of being safe while doing this. I displayed my self-designed Dual VCO, Dual White/Pink Noise Generator & Power Supply, Dave Vosh displayed his "Franktronium" analog modular synthesizer & other attendees displayed their unique electronic music gear as well.
The following memebers of the Baltimore SDIY Group gave a very nice performance - Logan Mitchell Sr, Dave Vosh, Hal Schmulowitz & Greg Kist.
Peter Blasser of Ciat-Lonbarde, Tom Boram & Dan Breen of Snacks, Carly Ptak with special guest Byron Bell on harmonica, group member Ted Zook on electric bass cello & electronics with Michael Sebastian on saxello. There were other performers there who used modified game units such as GameBoys to create electronic music. Here's a list of the other performers -
