PDX is equipped with 2 Certified Tower Display Workstations (TDW). Controllers may use the TDW to provide Class C service to participating aircraft, initial radar separation between departing aircraft, between arriving and departing aircraft, and between SVFR helicopters. These workstations are simulated with the STARS interface in CRC. See the documentation for more details about using this interface.

SSA: WX, TIME, ALTSTG, QL
Toggle SSA items by clicking on the SSA FILTER button on the right side of the DCB at the top.
Minimum filter altitudes: 000-050
This declutters your display by not showing traffic well above your airspace
Display current filters: F7 F
Basic filter syntax: <MULTIFUNC>F(LO UNASSOC)(HI UNASSOC)<SPACE>(LO ASSOC)(HI ASSOC)
Example of setting both associated and unassociated filters to this minimum range:
F7 F000050 000050
Quick Look the P80 sector responsible for FINAL.
This shows aircraft on final with full data blocks so you know who they are
Command to quicklook the FINAL sector:
F7 Q 1F
Radar Monitoring
Observing the target and noting any deviations.
Radar Navigational Guidance
Vectoring aircraft to provide guidance.
Radar Separation
Determining spacing between aircraft.
Basic Radar Services: VFR Aircraft
Safety alerts
Traffic advisories
Limited radar vectoring as requested by the pilot
Note: VFR aircraft can be vectored below MVA or issued an altitude below MVA, but not both.
Determine aircraft's identification and location
Apply radar separation per 7110.65 5-8. When applying the criteria, note that the runways at PDX are 3000 feet apart and staggered at least the same distance.
Between successive departures from the same runway or parallel runways separated by less than 2,500 feet- 1 mile if courses diverge by 15 degrees or more immediately after departure.
Between simultaneous departures departing in the same direction from parallel runways, authorize simultaneous takeoffs if the centerlines are separated by at least 2,500 feet and courses diverge by 15 degrees or more immediately after departure.
Authorize simultaneous operations between an aircraft departing on a runway and an aircraft on final approach to another parallel runway if the departure course diverges immediately by at least 30 degrees from the missed approach course until separation is applied.
