M2: Intro to ATC

The purpose of this module is to introduce students to ATC. This lesson will be conducted at Portland-Hillsboro Airport (HIO) and cover the following:

• Airport familiarization and SIDs

• Giving IFR clearances using the CRAFT acronym

• VFR aircraft

• Use of flight strips

• Moving aircraft on the ground

• Helicopters!

• Coordinating with other ATC positions
