The Portland-Hillsboro Airport (IATA: HIO, ICAO: KHIO) is a Class D airspace in the Portland TRACON (P80). Commonly referred to as a satellite field, your training will start at this airport as an introduction to ground and clearance delivery operations in ZSE.
Hillsboro has two runways oriented northwest/southeast (13L/31R and 13R/31L). It also has runway 2/20 that runs roughly perpendicular to the other two and intersects 13R/31L.
There are no commercial passenger operations at Hillsboro, but there are hangars and FBOs easily accessible to every runway.
Hillsboro isn't frequented much on the network, but when you do have traffic, most of it will be general aviation and local IFR/VFR traffic, along with a few bizjets.
Departure services are provided by the Newburg sector of P80 (126.0).Â
