The Wright Lab community has access to a van for business purposes only. More details are below.
All who wish to drive the Wright Lab van will have to have an active driver's license and complete Driver Safety Awareness training.
Once you complete the one-time training, please E-mail your certificate to victoria.misenti@yale.edu and your name will be placed on the list of approved drivers (below).
NOTE: No more than 2 people can drive in the van (in front and passenger seats).
When approved drivers require the vehicle for business use only, they must:
1) add the reservation request to the WL van Google calendar (also below) if the time is available (if you need access, please E-mail your administrative support staff with your preferred Google user ID)
2) fill out the columns A-E of the online Wright Lab van sign out sheet
3) obtain the keys from locker #1 on the ground floor of Wright Lab. If you need the combination, please contact your administrative staff support person.
Upon your return, please:
1) return the keys to the locker and lock it as soon as you return
2) fill out columns F-H of the online Wright Lab van sign out sheet - completing the form is required for all users of the van in order to keep their van usage privileges
If you notice the fuel getting low while you are driving the vehicle, please be considerate to the community and fill up the gas using the provided gas card, which is kept in the glove compartment. *Please note that you do need a pin to use the card; this should have been provided to you after you took your training.
Special requests for overnight business trips with the van must be made in writing to Karsten Heeger and Jeff Ashenfelter, with a justification, at least 1 business day before the trip.
The 1705 University Fleet Policy supercedes any policy established by Wright Lab.
Yale Policy 1705.12 states, “A hands-free device must be used when talking on cell phones/smartphones while driving. Other uses of a cell/smartphone are prohibited while driving”.
Video conferencing while driving falls under “Other Uses” and is prohibited while driving a Yale University Fleet vehicle.
Attending a virtual meeting while driving a university vehicle is discouraged. However, should participation in a meeting be necessary, the video must be disabled. In this instance, only audio should be used and must be hands-free.
