Safety Notes

Please keep the following safety notes in mind:

1. Soldering: must be performed inside a fume hood, with the aid of a snorkel exhaust, or at a minimum, with a soldering fan extractor. Lead solder should not be used. If your application required lead solder, pls discuss with me.
2. Gas bottles must be secured at all times with chains or straps to prevent them from falling over and potentially rupture.
3. Gas bottles must be tagged as Full, In-service, or Empty.
4. No eating or drinking in labs.
5. Flat extension cords are not allowed.
6. Sharps:in addition to being careful while using sharps like scalpels and razor blades, either put them away in an appropriate container after use, or dispose of them in a sharps container. Please do not leave sharps out. These tend to be left on work benches and other work surfaces. If you need a sharps container, please let Jeff Ashenfelter know.
