Zoom is a web based conferencing tool for webinars, video conferencing, video-based meetings and conference calls.

Features include:

  • Video/Web Conferencing for 2-100 participants.

  • Webinars for up to 500 participants with prior approval and setup.

For more detailed support, see support.zoom.us.

Getting started

Zoom will download automatically when you start or join your first Zoom meeting on your web browser, and is also available for manual download at yale.zoom.us/download.

Users with a valid NetID can login at yale.zoom.us and an account will be set up automatically after logging in through CAS.

Hosting a meeting

  1. Go to yale.zoom.us and choose 'Host'. If you cannot download or run the application, launch it in your browser.

  2. To invite others, click on the 'Invite' icon at the bottom of the Zoom window.

    • Click 'Copy URL' for a link to the meeting,

    • Click 'Copy invitation' for the full invitation text including a URL and teleconferencing number. The number can be used in case a participant does not have a computer or the Zoom app does not work.

    • Participants can also join using the 9, 10, or 11-digit Meeting ID.

Note the Meeting ID will expire after leaving the meeting. For recurring meetings, see 'Scheduling a meeting' below.
