Building & Lab Access for Wright Lab Personnel

Requesting Access

Researchers

• The requesting researcher’s PI will email the request for building access to Wright Lab, WL lab spaces, and other Yale Physics buildingsto Frank Lopez with Cc to the PI’s administrative support assistant and the Wright Lab Director. The PI should clearly list all spaces to which this researcher needs access in this email.

• The PI’s administrative assistant will  arrange access of researchers to other Physics spaces outside WL.

• The PI will work with the personnel to identify and obtain required training. See below training requirements section for more information. The requesting personnel must send confirmation of required training to Frank Lopez, with a Cc to the PI’s administrative assistant and the Wright Lab Director.

• Once training requirements have been completed,

  • Frank Lopez will contact 432-open for access to WL building and WL lab spaces.

  • Jack DiSciacca will contact 432-open for access to AIDC spaces[MV1] 

Administrative Staff

• The Physics Department Business Office[MV2]  manages building access for administrative staff.

Training Requirements for Wright Lab Personnel

For general access to WL

• Frank Lopez will provide emergency egress training to everyone who requests access to Wright Lab.

For lab access

• In order to obtain access to laboratory spaces, the minimum requirement is to take the online training: Laboratory Safety Program (PRG-SRPR-EHS-002)

• PI and their personnel will discuss and determine additional training requirements using the EHS training assessment tool. This may include among others:

  • • Radiation safety training

    •  Laser training

    • Chemical hazards

    •  Ladder training

    • Etc.

• The requesting PI will email Frank Lopez, with Cc to the PI’s admin and the WL Director, the expected training requirements for each researcher. It is the responsibility of the researcher and their PI to ensure the researcher completes the training in a timely manner. 

• The requesting esearcher will send confirmation of completed training to PI,the PI’s admin and Frank Lopez before they can gain access to the lab spaces.
