Access to Lab
ID Card access
Requests for card access to the WL perimeter doors, rooms, and labs should be directed to Jeff Ashenfelter with Frank Lopez serving as backup. The request should be made by the PI/designate, or by the individual needed access with PI/designate in copy. The training requirements listed below must be completed before access is granted.
Safety Training
For access to:
Perimeter doors or rooms (including offices, meeting rooms, etc.): Emergency egress training is required. Please see Jeff Ashenfelter for training.
Labs: the on-line course “Laboratory Chemical Safety” is required.
Labs where radioactive materials are used or stored:
The on-line courses “Radiation Safety Basic Concepts: Part I,” and “Sealed Source Radiation Safety: Part 1” are required.
Once these on-line courses are completed, a lab specific in-person “Sealed Source Radiation Safety: Part II” is given by Jeff Ashenfelter.
For labs where lasers or x-rays are used:
The appropriate on-line course “Laser Safety Training Part 1” or “X-Ray Safety: Part I” is required.
The online course is followed by the appropriate in-person “Laser Safety Training Part II On-the-Job Training Checklist” or “X-ray Equipment Safety Training: Part II,” which is given either by the relevant PI or Jeff Ashenfelter.
Additional training may be needed depending upon current lab activities. A list of Wright-Lab specific training can be found on the Wright Lab wiki here: https://sites.google.com/yale.edu/wlab-wiki/safety-trainings
On-line trainings are available at https://ehs.yale.edu/training
