Do you hold lots of discussions in your class? Do you want to continue these with your students at home? Do your students like to record SnapChat/Insta/Facebook/TikTok videos? Then Flipgrid is definitely worth a look.
What is Flipgrid?
Much like a video bulletin board, Flipgrid allows Teachers & Students to interact via video asynchronously. Flipgrid can help with engagement even when you are not in the classroom with your students. It may also work to combat some of the isolation that learners can feel when working remotely from home.
How does it work?
Flipgrid allows students to access content (a video of you, a YouTube video, a graphic, an article etc.) with prompts, and can then respond with their own short video. When a student creates and uploads their video, the rest of the class is able to view and reply to that video, allowing the discussion to continue.
Example Flipgrid activities could include:
Expert discussions
Student check-ins
Goal setting
‘What if?’ scenarios
Reflections on learning
Book / film reviews
Focus groups
Speaking skills assessment
Show what you know
Exit tickets
There are many many more...see below
