Wakelet is an online resource curator which allows you and students to collate different resources that you find from the internet. You can create collections of YouTube videos, articles, images, PDFs and items from your Google Drive - it's a great tool for the College's blended learning model!
When saving content, you can organise your resources into different collections depending on how you want to research. Wakelet is based mostly through a web-browser but there is a Chrome Extension available for easy bookmarking!
Wakelet is a online-browser based application so there is no need to download anything new to your devices! All you need to do is visit the Wakelet website and sign-up to get started.
Here is a link to the website
There is also a mobile device application available on Apple and Android devices available. If you wanted to download one of these, click on this link
You can also download Wakelet as a Google Chrome extension to easily add any webpage as a bookmark
The great thing about Wakelet is that it allows learners and staff to collaborate seamlessly - you can save, organise and present multimedia content with your students, teachers and learning communities. As the College is working towards a blended learning model, Wakelet is a great tool that allows students and teachers to collect information inside and outside of the College.
To begin using Wakelet, you will need to sign-up using your College Google Account. Once logged in, you will be able to start creating Collections which allow you to group together different articles, websites and videos which can be easily shared with others.
To be able to create a Collection, click on the green plus button. It will then ask you to give the Collection a name, description and to chose the layout. Once this is done, you can start to link in different images, and web address into it!
With Wakelet, you can upload files from different apps which include Twitter and Google Drive.
Once you've added all of the documents and resources you want to add on the Collection, you can Share it with others who can then add their own to it.
To be able to share your Collection, you will either need to make it Public or Unlisted for it to be viewable. Once this has been amended, you can share the link or have the collection embedded directly into other apps like Google Classroom.
To allow others to collaborate on your Collection, you can invite them via email, provide a code or share it directly into Google Classroom.
