Hey there! I'm Autumn McDonnel and I'm from Marshall, MN. I'm currently a senior at Northern State University and I'm majoring in English Education, as well as triple minoring in Special Education, Creative Writing, and E-Learning. I love reading cheesy young-adult novels, writing poetry and short stories, and learning about anything and everything! I've also been a teachers' aide and substitute teacher at Aberdeen Roncalli since August of 2020 and Aberdeen Public School District since January 2023. I added my third and final minor, E-Learning, during my sophomore year at NSU. Navigating through a pandemic since 2020 has been difficult with my school life, and especially while transitioning straight from my senior year of high school into my freshman year of college. I've had high school teachers and college professors that had absolutely little to no idea about how to teach their curriculum online. With that being said, minoring in E-Learning will give me the chance to not only learn how I can make a good online (and in-person) learning environment, but also help my students navigate online courses much easier than I did. I also want my students to have fun and be engaged in their courses. 🍎✏️❤️
Students recognize the rights, responsibilities, and opportunities of living, learning and working in an interconnected digital world, and they act and model in ways that are safe, legal and ethical. Students:
a. Cultivate and manage their digital identity and reputation and are aware of the permanence of their actions in the digital world.
b. Engage in positive, safe, legal and ethical behavior when using technology, including social interactions online or when using networked devices.
c. Demonstrate an understanding of and respect for the rights and obligations of using and sharing intellectual property.
d. Manage their personal data to maintain digital privacy and security and are aware of data-collection technology used to track their navigation online.
I believe I met this standard of being a Digital Citizen because over the past year and a half, I've carefully crafted this website to show my growth as a future educator. My website is solely for educational purposes and reflects who I am as a person. It is shared with the world, meaning I need to be careful what I put on here. I try to make my website easily accessible for all in terms of being consistent between my ELRN tabs (using the same image for one class all throughout, using the same font and font color all across my website, etc.). I believe I use a positive attitude when talking about myself as a future educator, and I carefully craft all of my artifacts to the content I hope to teach in a few short years. I think I meet all of the criteria above, as I know that my website reflects who I am and my actions, I engage in a positive, safe, and ethical manner, I respect Dr. Pirlet and this technology to help me build a personal portfolio, and I'm constantly updating my website to meet Dr. Pirlet's criteria. This technology is something I appreciate, and I think it's pretty darn cool I get to use it to the best of my ability.
