I believe I met this standard of being a Creative Communicator because I uploaded appropriate content to Google Classroom for eighth graders. I created my own graphic organizers for students to fill out that clearly outlines what students need to write, and where to write it. Students knew where to look for the assignment and knew what was expected of them. Visually, I had to make the unit tab look appealing, and I added in emojis that aligned with each topic. So if students were to view something, I used the eyes emoji. If students were to do bell work, I used a bell emoji. If students were to take notes on their Chromebooks, I used a laptop emoji. The list goes on.
I would use Google Classroom to uploaded class content to be completed or looked through for reference to assignments, tests, etc. That way students have all the information they need in one easily accessible place. For students that would be gone, I would specifically assign certain materials like class notes of what we did on the day they were gone so they can see what they missed and where they can look for this information.
This assignment was due this Friday morning by the end of class. They had four days to work on it, and honestly, I’m a bit shocked that five students still didn’t complete it. While it didn’t show in this class, two other classes had several students that turned in completely blank graphic organizers. I haven’t had a chance to talk to those students yet, but for those five who are missing their assignments in the first block I’ve already talked to, and yet they still didn’t complete or turn in their assignment. Therefore, I haven’t assigned points to them yet. I’m unsure what to do next. Do they just not get any points? Do I wait until they turn it in to assign points? Do I dock points for them turning it in late? I plan on asking my CT for some guidance. I did, however, leave feedback on all assignments that were graded, so I’m hoping students check my comments!
