Students use digital tools to broaden their perspectives and enrich their learning by collaborating with others and working effectively in teams locally and globally. Students:
a. Use digital tools to connect with learners from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, engaging with them in ways that broaden mutual understanding and learning.
b. Use collaborative technologies to work with others, including peers, experts or community members, to examine issues and problems from multiple viewpoints.
c. Contribute constructively to project teams, assuming various roles and responsibilities to work effectively toward a common goal.
d. Explore local and global issues and use collaborative technologies to work with others to investigate solutions.
I believe I met this standard of being a Global Collaborator because I needed to understand my students' backgrounds and knowledge of the writing process. To do so, I would use a pre-made Kahoot (made by someone else, preferably, as many teachers help other teachers by creating fun Kahoot review games) as an example for a review game to review the writing process and key writing terms that students either do not know or need a quick review before moving on to the actual unit of the writing process itself. In this case, I'm trying to understand my students and talk through our issues with certain concepts in writing. Or, in other words, I'm putting myself on their "team" and trying to guide them toward creating certain foundational concepts, as well as encouraging questions and giving examples to help these concepts stick in their minds before beginning our unit of the writing process.
I would use action mapping to help me outline what students will need to do throughout each period. It helps me outline my goal for the students to achieve as well as my teaching. It also helps me see any challenges that may arise for students and any solutions I may have or how to fix these challenges. Finally, action mapping allows me to see any knowledge gaps and brainstorm any activities we might do.
