Students communicate clearly and express themselves creatively for a variety of purposes using the platforms, tools, styles, formats and digital media appropriate to their goals. Students:
a. Choose the appropriate platforms and tools for meeting the desired objectives of their creation or communication.
b. Create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix digital resources into new creations.
c. Communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively by creating or using a variety of digital objects such as visualizations, models or simulations.
d. Publish or present content that customizes the message and medium for their intended audiences.
I believe I met this standard of being a Creative Communicator because I took a simply written poem and designed a sort-of complex animation. I found the poem several years ago in a YouTube video and fell in love with it. I simply love poetry, and being a poet myself, the poem stuck with me forever. The purpose of this creation is to take a poem one is passionate about and break it down into pieces and ultimately creating a different form of art using a preexisting poem and adding ones own art. I chose an appropriate platform to repurpose something in to a new creation using visuals, which was meant to customize the message to my students and give them an example of what I wanted them to create with their favorite poem.
I would use digital animations in storytelling to let students show their creative side and break apart and cite a text, meeting several different ELA standards.
