On Sunday 24 February, Oscar, Luka, Noah and Cole travelled to Eventfinda Stadium on the North Shore to participate in a coaching even with Breakers star Dillon Boucher, star coach Matt Lacey and the Premier Team from Rosmini College who are heading off to the World Championship in Greece soon. Here's what the boys had to say about their Million Dreams experience:
When we first arrived at Eventfinda Stadium, we participated in some warm-ups with the most fun one being Foot Fire! This helped us get our feet moving quickly and our body nice and warm and ready to move! We also got our voices ready by yelling as loudly as we could.
We all agree the drills were the most fun part of all the activities. We had the chance to work at different stations, working on our skills of passing, shooting, and defence and learning lots of new tricks and tips. The 1V1, man on man competition was a lot of fun, and the Rosmini players gave away prizes for great skills being demonstrated. Cole won a prize.
We were blown away by the amazing slam dunk by one of the Rosmini team and we hope to be able to pull off that move when we get tall enough! Noah learned the best way to transfer his weight when he side shuffles now and is looking forward to trying it out on the courts.
Oscar, Noah, Luka and Cole hope to pass on their skills to others at school and are already planning Have a Go classes for younger kids or those new to Basketball on Fridays as part of our Have a Go Friday options.
We can't wait to see what your future holds. Maybe it will be you guys fundraising to go to the World Championships for basketball one day!
