Six students from year 2-6 went to visit Car Zone Auto Super Shoppe in Whangaparaoa. The owner, Mark Manihera, used to be the chairperson on the Board of Trustees for our school several years ago. Mark and his team showed the kids around the workshop, explaining what each tool and station is for. Tools that impressed the children the most were the car hoist, and the machine for taking tyres off the rims. We saw how cars get their oil changed, punctures repaired, wheels balanced, brakes checked, and computerised systems checked. We got to see a couple of classic cars as well as modern cars. We talked to the mechanics about what they do and how they learn their job. At the end, Mark gave all the children some goodie bags - what a nice surprise! Thanks Auto Super Shoppe Carzone for inspiring our kids and answering their questions.
