Making Sure Your House is done on Time
Steps to getting the house project done by Due Date. Use this as a list to keep yourself on track.Due Date: TBD
Floor Plans need to be completed
Make sure your final square footage is 2000 or less.
Label all rooms with names and interior dimensions – make every effort to make dimensions whole numbers.
Make sure walls are filled solid.
Dimension overall house size, enough dimensions so that judges can determine square footage (presentation style dimensions).
Get floor plans ready for presentation
All appliances and fixtures need to be on.
No furniture is to be on this plan.
Make sure your 2 dimensional stairs are on with the arrows and text going up/down. Make sure your 3D stairs are OFF (this looks too cluttered).
Turn on your labels
Turn on your dimensions.6. Please complete any porches or decks that you have. These do not get templated off with your floor plan.
7. “View to Cad” your floor plans to finish details such as stair representation.
8. Send to HBA Presentation layout at a scale of 1/4” = 1’-0”.
Finish the Front Elevation
1. “View to Cad” your front elevation. Add all detail to make it pretty but do not cover your house too much.
If you have a front porch, or a porch that will be seen, it needs to be on.
2. Clean up the elevation as needed.
3. Place trees/shrubs/bushes on the elevation. Whatever you add here will be added on your plot plan and your finished model.
4. Add any other detail required to make your elevation look beautiful then send to layout (does not need to be to scale, but start at ¼” = 1’-0”).
Finish the Plot Plan
1. “View to Cad” the Roof and property lines, including the side-yards and setbacks.
2. Dimension overall plot plan and side yards and setbacks.
3. Add all the trees and shrubs (remember what you added in your front elevation).
4. Add the side-yard and setback dimensions (side-yards no less than 10’, setbacks no less than 35’)
5. Label the contour lines off the edge of the plot plan
6. Add a North Arrow (in Templates).
7. Send to HBA Presentation layout at a scale of 1” = 20’-0”.
Find the correct wall section
1. Find the wall section in the library that best fits your needs.
2. Change the wall section as needed.
3. Send to HBA Presentation layout (does not need to be to scale, but start at ¼” = 1’-0”).
Complete the HBA drawing
1. Arrange all the drawings as indicated.
2. Put Titles (1/4” text size/ bold) and scales (1/8” text size/ regular) on each drawing.
3. Finish the title block – verify square footage.
4. Print for verification
5 Teacher signature needs to go on final drawings.
6. Mount drawing on foam board or heavy cardboard (24” x 30”).
