Install Oracle RDBMS 11.2.0.3.0 Without Grid Infrastructure on Windows XP
Overview
This procedure documents the installation of a new Oracle home for Personal Edition of Oracle RDBMS 11.2.0.3.0 on Windows XP SP3 computer (PENRITH).
Download Patchset
Downloaded the following files from My Oracle Support for 11.2.0.3.0 for Windows 32 bit:
p10404530_112030_WINNT_1of6.zipp10404530_112030_WINNT_2of6.zip
Although there are six (6) files available for for download, I need just these two (2) for installation of the RDBMS software.
This is the latest patchset available for Windows 32-bit. There are no PSUs available.
Unzipped Files
I unzipped these files into I:\Software\RDBMS_11_2_0_3\.
Installation Process
Start the Installation Process
I double-clicked on I:\Software\RDBMS_11_2_0_3\database\setup.exe.
Step 1: Configure Security Updates
The following screen appeared, and I filled in My Oracle Support credentials as shown:
Clicked Next.
Step 2: Download Software Updates
The following screen appeared:
The My Oracle Support credentials were carried forward from the previous screen.
Clicked Test Connection and got the following confirmation:
Clicked OK.
Clicked Next and got the following response:
Clicked OK.
Step 3: Installation Option
The following screen appeared, and I choose to Install database software only as shown:
Clicked Next.
Step 4: Grid Installation Options
The following screen appeared:
I left the option as Single instance database installation because I am only licensed for Oracle Personal Edition—No RAC allowed.
Clicked Next.
Step 5: Select Product Languages
The following screen appeared:
Nothing was changed.
Clicked Next.
Step 6: Select Database Edition
The following screen appeared, and I changed the option to Personal Edition because that is what I am licensed for:
Clicked Next.
Step 7: Specify Installation Location
The following screen appeared:
Nothing was changed.
Clicked Next.
Step 8: Perform Prerequisite Checks
The following screen appeared:
Step 9: Summary
After a while, the following results appeared:
Clicked Install.
Step 10 : Install Product
The following screen appeared:
Step 11: Finish
After a while, the following results appeared:
Clicked Close.
