01 Build PENRITH1 VM Image
Using VMWare® Workstation,
- Choose
Custom
. - Click Next.
- Hardware compatibility is
Workstation 8.0
. - Click Next.
- Choose
I will install the operating system later
in order to avoid theEasy Install
option. - Click Next.
- Guest operating system is
Linux
. - Version is
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
. - Click Next.
- Virtual machine name is
PENRITH1
. - Click Next.
- Leave the number of processors at 1 with 1 core per processor.
- Click Next.
- Leave the memory at 1024MB.
- Click Next.
- Change
Network connection
toUse bridged networking
because the VM image needs its own IP address. - Click Next.
- Leave
I/O controller types
as they are. - Click Next.
- Create a new virtual disk.
- Click Next.
- Leave
Virtual disk type
as is. - Click Next.
- Maximum disk size is 8.0GB.
- Allocate all disk space now.
- Store virtual disk as a single file.
- Click Next.
- The name of the
Disk File
isPENRITH1_root.vmdk
. - Click Next.
- Click Customize Hardware….
- Add two (2)
Network Adapter
s that use aHost-only
network connection. This is for the private networks for the interconnect and NAS access. - Add one (1) SCSI Disk Drive of 8GB. The name of the
Disk File
isPENRITH1_U01.vmdk
. - Go back to
Ready to Create Virtual Machine
. - Click Finish.
- Update settings to add an extra 12GB disk drive called
PENRITH1_U01.vmdk
.
