Guidelines for Poster Presentation

National Seminar on Science and Literature
(For PG/PhD Scholars and Young Teachers)

1. Poster Size and Orientation

• Permissible Dimensions:

  • 2 ft × 4 ft

  • 4 ft × 2 ft

  • 4 ft × 4 ft

• Both portrait and landscape formats are acceptable.

• Posters may also be presented digitally (PDF or PPT/PPTX format).

• Ensure high resolution (minimum 300 dpi for print clarity).

2. Mandatory Components of the Poster

A. Header Section

• Title of the Seminar

• Title of the Poster

• Name(s) of Presenter(s) / Collaborator(s)

• Institutional Affiliation (Full Name and Address)

• Email ID of the primary presenter

B. Core Academic Structure

1. Introduction / Background

   • Context and relevance of the topic

   • Clear statement of problem or theme

2. Objectives / Research Questions

   • Clearly listed in bullet points

3. Methodology (where applicable)

   • Brief description

   • Flowcharts or schematic diagrams encouraged

4. Analysis / Argument / Findings

   • Logical progression of ideas

   • Balanced integration of text and infographic

5. Conclusion / Implications

   • Key insights

   • Relevance to Science and Literature

   • Scope for further inquiry

6. References

   • Properly cited in APA (7th edition) or MLA (9th edition) style

   • Consistency in citation style is mandatory

7. Acknowledgement (if any)

   • Funding, institutional or academic support

3. Visual and Design Standards (International Best Practices)

Layout and Flow

• Logical reading order (top-left to bottom-right or column-based).

• Clear sectional divisions using headings.

• Adequate white space to ensure readability.

Typography

• Title: Minimum 72 pt

• Headings: 36–48 pt

• Body Text: 24–32 pt

• Use clean, professional fonts (e.g., Arial, Calibri, Helvetica).

Visual Balance

• Maintain an effective balance between text and visuals.

• Use charts, diagrams, tables, and conceptual maps meaningfully.

• Every figure must include a caption.

• Avoid overcrowding or decorative excess.

4. Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

In alignment with emerging global academic standards:

• AI tools may be used for:

  • Idea generation

  • Concept mapping

  • Infographic creation

  • Language refinement and editing

• However, AI must not replace original scholarly thinking.

• Any use of AI tools must be:

  • Properly acknowledged

  • Clearly stated in a transparency note

Example of Acknowledgment:

“AI tools were used for language refinement and infographic assistance. The conceptual framework and academic arguments are the original work of the author(s).”

Failure to acknowledge AI assistance may be treated as a breach of academic integrity.

5. Academic Integrity and Originality

• Plagiarism (textual or visual) is strictly prohibited.

• All borrowed images, data, and ideas must be cited.

• The work must demonstrate independent academic engagement.

6. Digital Poster Specifications

• File Format: PDF / PPTX

• Maintain proper aspect ratio.

• Fonts must be embedded.

• Include a QR code if linking to full paper or supplementary material.

7. Presentation Protocol During Poster Session

• Presenter must remain available during assigned time.

• Prepare a concise 1–2 minute oral explanation.

• Engage with questions and feedback constructively.

• Professional conduct and academic decorum are expected.

8. General Expectations

This seminar encourages:

• Interdisciplinary dialogue between Science and Literature

• Critical engagement

• Responsible use of emerging technologies

• Intellectual honesty and scholarly rigor
