The Urban Calgary Students’ Association is a student-led organization from the University of Calgary. The objectives of UrbanCSA are to engage students on urban issues and to bridge the gap between the student, the citizen, and the professional. This mission is achieved by focusing on four main principles:
Provide a ‘home at school’ for Urban Studies students
Engage the student body on urban issues
Bridge the gap between the citizen, the student, and the urban professional.
The Urban Calgary Student’s Association was created fifteen years ago by Urban Studies students who wanted to create an Urban Studies club, advocate and engage with students, and promote urbanism in Calgary. It has grown and changed, but our mission remains the same.
The UrbanCSA now has over 100 members, which has doubled since last year, making it one of the largest urban studies and Planning clubs in North America. We have also hosted over a dozen events this year across Calgary and led the largest advocacy charge in our history.
Membership is open to any student of the University of Calgary with an interest in urban issues and sustainable development in Calgary. A valid membership shall be recognized for the term September to August. Membership may be obtained by paying an annual membership fee totalling $10. At all times UrbanCSA will have a minimum of twenty members, 2/3 of which are undergraduate students at the University of Calgary. All executive positions will be held by undergraduate students.
