Artwork Description: The George C. King Bridge, very popular among Calgarians, as a great example of inclusive walkable space. It is both a path connecting the Riverwalk, St.Patrick Island Park and Bow River Pathway, and a place to stay and enjoy a scenic view of the Bow River, historical sights and Downtown Calgary. The collage represents mobility in many modes.
URBAN THEME: Urban Mobility
Artist's Bio: Oxana is a landscape designer, textile artist, and photographer who is in the Master of Landscape Architecture program at SAPL (U of C). She has been living in Calgary for more than 13 years and loves to explore the city and surrounding area, since understanding the environment around us is the first step of good design. Oxana’s medical background has brought her a better understanding of the importance of designing a healthier urban environment which encourages people and modes of mobility to be more active.
Artist's statement: Travelling with a camera worldwide, I am interested in small details as well as a bigger picture of urban life. Together these create a vibrant urban fabric, unique for each city. I look for pictures that tell stories about the city and its residents, both human beings and wildlife, and I am excited to share this experience with others.
