Artwork Description: The Southwood Community Association utilized the ActiveYYC grant provided by the Federation of Calgary Communities to implement traffic calming measures while simultaneously fostering community engagement on Neighbor Day.

Artist's Bio: Binithi Nadya Karunanayaka is an emerging artist in Calgary pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies at the University of Calgary. Born in Sri Lanka, Binithi's South Asian heritage influences her artistic vision and creative process. Passionate about integrating her urban studies knowledge with her artistic endeavours, Binithi aims to contribute to Calgary's cultural tapestry while honouring her South Asian roots.

Organizer's Bio: Max Webber is a graduated student from the Department of Geography at the University of Calgary with a major in Urban Studies and a minor in Architectural Studies. Since a young age he has created sculptural and functional woodworking pieces and sold them at craft shows and online. Throughout university, Max has found ways to combine his studies in urbanism and design with his artistic background, creating public art events and community focused design activities. In his current role at the City of Calgary, he is researching ways public art, architecture, and events can take habitat in vacant spaces throughout the city to increase vibrancy and inspire the community.
