Christian Icuspit
Master of Architecture, 2nd Year
URBAN THEME: Urban Innovation
Artist's Bio: Christian Icuspit is a Filipino-Canadian Artist born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. As a University of Calgary Visual Studies Graduate and taking Masters in Architecture, he recognizes that Art is a visual voice, a universal language that builds connections and forms of engagement. His art brand is a therapeutic gateway that gives him a space to express, showcase his talent, and expand on the individual and community.
Artist's statement: Influenced by Abstraction and Pop-Art, my art practice uses abstract aesthetics to reflect on life experiences that can be difficult to express verbally. In this case, the sculpture plans to construct new forms of living through various forms and shapes. By colliding geometric forms together, it is possible to imagine architecture in new ways, traversing away from traditional forms of building to suggesting anomalies that could have the potential of providing living space.
