Artwork Description: Photographing the Ever-Dynamic Urban Landscape of Calgary

Artist's Bio:  The process of art is discovering one’s identity. Calgary-based artist Alianacriz De Sagun uses multiple mediums, including acrylics, charcoal, sculpture, and film photography, to represent herself. Born in Saudi Arabia, raised in the Philippines, and moving to Calgary in 2009, she expanded her artistic skills. Her work reflects a love for nature and the built environment, often depicted abstractly. Despite adapting to new cities, her experiences inspire her art. She aims to inspire future artists to express their true selves, understanding the distinction between passion and success in the visual arts.

Artist's statement: "In consideration to how art has no fixed formula in getting a perfect outcome, I visualize art coming hand-in-hand with various fields in society. If art can move the viewer's imaginations and emphasize the importance of elements of designs and compositions within spaces, I believe art still has its power to create new discoveries that would feel at home. Because with art, I feel at home."
