This is a good way of teaching factor pairs. You could use gardens as a context.

For example, you have 12m squares of grass. Arrange them to create rectilinear gardens. How many can you make?

Encourage children to start with 1 x then 2 x - they can tick them off down the side as you can see on the photo.

Factor bugs are another way of showing this but these are not effective for developing children's conceptual understanding. They are however great for helping children be systematic and get all the options.
