Irrigon to Umatilla
Route 2 / US 30 / US 730

I am cheating a little on this segment, since it straddles the county line, but it does make a good segment for the website. I can't locate any photos from this section, and I am not sure I shot many, though I do have video that will go up someday...
The real questions about this area... Through most of the US 730 section, there are grades both to the north and the south of the highway, and a lot of frontage roads on both sides. It may be nearly impossible to ever really sort out what is rail, what is old highway, and what is just a plain old frontage road through here, and I, myself, am not going to kill myself trying, but there are some interesting puzzles for the intrepid to solve through here!
The image below is a good example, there is a lot going on in that image for road scholars to mull over! Too many grades for me! And I just zoomed in on one random part of the highway (the county line) between Irrigon and Umatilla, it's like this all through there...
