Pioneer Girl
I-84
Peg Willis, Pioneer Girl: March 17, 2014
It's a stain on the rock at about the height of a car's windshield. Just past mm 91 (I-84, out of The Dalles) on the south side of the road. It is yellowish and looks like a pioneer girl in a bonnet with her head slightly bowed as if she's reading. There's a little shelf there in the rock, and someone puts a bouquet of plastic flowers there every spring, and they last ... well until they die a sad and tragic death. Makes it look like the girl is holding the flowers and smelling them.

I've had this placed between Biggs Junction and Rufus for a long time, and am keeping it here, but that doesn't quite match up with the mile marker Peg mentions above... I can't remember if I ever actually spotted this myself, and will need to look for it more carefully the next time I am out east!
