So I have walked the Heritage Trail, but it was a different day and the photos apparently did not make it onto the cloud archive. I'll get them up when I get my drives back, and I'll add Steve's photos from 2020, too. But for now, on toward Pendleton!

Right on this road to PATTERSON FERRY,1 m. (toll for cars and five persons, $1; round trip, $1.50) connecting with US 410 at Prosser, Washington.

The painted lines on the road may offer some clue as to when this section of pavement lapsed out of service.
"Sometime between Rexford's innovative striping of the highway and 1954, the centerline color had changed to yellow. By 1958, the U. S. Bureau of Public Roads mandated white... But after only two years, the yellow lines were back - at least on the state highways."
