My name is Ahniyah Batts, and I am a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) in New Jersey. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Caldwell University. I continued to attend Caldwell University to obtain my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have a background in working with clients that have difficulty managing substance use, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and domestic violence. As your therapist, I believe in the importance of meeting you where you are. I will work collaboratively with you to help you make positive changes to address the concerns that you may have in your life. While I cannot make any changes for you, I will empower you with the skills that you need to feel as though you can accomplish your goals. I will also help you to identify those barriers that may be holding you back. I truly believe that we are all capable of overcoming any obstacle given the right tools to do so. It is a core belief of mine that we are all people first, and we all have our own strengths. Therefore, I operate from a strengths-based, person-centered perspective. I have experience using various approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, as well as rational-emotive behavior therapy. While I tailor my techniques to the needs of my clients, the most important thing is the therapeutic relationship that we develop. I cannot promise that our therapeutic journey will be an easy one, but I can promise that it will be one full of empathy, persistence, learning, growth, and support!
