Name: Fujiwara no Tadakiyo (藤原 忠清)

Bio:
The father of Fujiwara no Kagekiyo. During his first appearance as the field commander for Koremori, he tries to convince his fellow warriors to not cross the Uji river, and instead go around. He is then held responsible for the failure of the Heike army to engage the Genji at the Fuji river.
His second time being mentioned is during a discussion of whether or not to he deserved death for running away from battle. There is a passage in a song sung during the Episode titled "The Gosechi Dances" that directly relates to Tadakiyo. "In his armor went,/ into the Fuji River./ Yes, Tadakiyo,/ time to dress yourself in black/ and pray for the life to come./ And so off he sped,/ hightailing it on his gray,/ that Tadakiyo./ A lot of good it did him,/ his crupper from Kazusa." The officers decide he is not fainthearted and so he is not killed.
His final time being mentioned is in Book Seven, when he is said to have died of grief once his son was killed in the North, this was long after he had renounced the world to become a monk.
