Graham BARR (20 June 2023; 60-66)

A well loved student throughout his time at St Pat's, especially when wearing the 'keeper's gloves or donning the footy boots. His work in the Cadets' band pointed to a life in music. An excellent description of 'Barrsy's" life since school was written by Bill Dowling and can be found here.

Reported by his wife Deirdre in January 2024.

Peter Joseph DWYER (9 May 2023; 44-52)

Academic, lecturer and writer.

Leon McKIERNAN (22 Mar 2023; 39-45)

Among other things, Leon was a member of the Sodality during his SPC years, and a classmate of Paul Noone and Billy Dwyer (a well-known Old Patrician who is still doing good work in India!).

George CAMERON (17 March 2023; 67-68, Staff)

George taught at St Pat's for its last two years; he then went on to teach at Xavier College for many years until he retired in 1992.

Francis (Frank) CHAMBERLIN (22 Feb 2023; 58-66)

Frank was well-known to all Patricians in the 60s era. He was actively involved in many areas of school life (football, cricket, athletics, the Sodality, Film Group, to mention a few) but it was in the Debating group that Frank made his mark, becoming President of that group in 1965. His skills in that area were finely tuned during numerous conversations on the daily commute to and from school on the number 42 tram! After a long illness, Frank leaves his wife (Dani), daughter (Ange), grandchildren and siblings Jul and John, himself a Patrician of renown and a member of the '49ers').

Notices of Patricians who have passed away prior to 2023  are summarized in the document below:

SPC RIP 2022 & prev.pdf

Brother John May (18 August 2021)

It is with sadness that the SPOCA community recognizes the passing of a good friend of the College. Br. John May  was the wine maker at Sevenhill Cellars for many years during the latter decades of the twentieth century and was known to many in the Patrician community. He was 92 when he went to the "Celestial Cellar" on 18 August 2021. An obituary from the Australian Province of the Society of Jesus can be read by clicking on this link.

R.I.P. Brother John

Our Association was sufficiently close to Sevenhill to have made a donation (see reply from Ian Cribb on behalf of the Restoration Committee) to the restoration of Weikert Cottage in 2016.

A few months after Br John's passing, his contribution to the development of Sevenhill is described in some detail in an article in The Weekend Australian Magazine (19 Nov 2021), and can be read at this link. Thanks to Eugene Quigley for bringing that story to our attention.
