-Results

Lao NRL has shown improvement in DST performance. PT results were generally well agreed with the intended results. About some discrepant results found in 2nd line drugs, KIT provided a remote consultation on the captured image of DST performed in Lao with technical correction.

4) Proficiency Testing Service for Lao NRL

-Panel strains numbers /characteristics : 30 strains (WHO DST proficiency test strains 17th round)

-Results: There was no discrepancy for INH and RIF between Laos NRL and KIT. However, false resistance for SM was noticed frequently. Nine out of 14 SM-susceptible strains were reported as resistant by NRL. We recommended that NRL should check the process of media preparation, especially for SM.

2011

Final results:  3 cases were completed

2) Proficiency Testing Service for Lao NRL

- Panel strains numbers/characteristics : 13 strains

- Results: Laos NRL reported false RIF resistance for one strain. That strain harbored mutation on rpoB gene. However, most SRLs reported it was RIF susceptible using the critical concentration. It seems that it is low-level resistant to RIF. All other results were identical to results of SRL.
