Supranational TB Reference Laboratory in Gauting, Germany
Address:
Robert-Koch-Allee 2,
D-82131 Gauting, Germany
Description
The SRL Gauting is member of the SRL network since its foundation in 1994. It is partner of the National Reference Laboratories of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Novosibirsk Tuberculosis Research Institute (Russian Federation) and Kyrgyzstan, as well as Nepal and of the regional reference laboratories of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
Structure and organization
The SRL Gauting has three departments:
The Kuratorium Tuberkulose in der Welt e.V. is an NGO supporting STOP TB projects in Kathmandu, Nepal, and Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, since more than 25 years through donations only. All members are working in an honorary capacity;
The IML red GmbH (IML = Institute of Microbiology and Laboratory medicine; red = research, education, development) represents the department of professional development assistance and research in tuberculosis;
The IML Diagnostic MVZ offers medical laboratory diagnostics including TB diagnostics, general microbiology, virology, molecular biology, clinical chemistry, haematology, cytology, and immunology.
The laboratory rooms of the IML Gauting were newly refurbished from 2007 to 2009. It disposes of a modern, 93 m² High-Risk TB (TB Containment) laboratory, additional 100 m² BSL-2 laboratory rooms and six bio-safety-cabinets for TB diagnostics and research. The IML Gauting is ISO EN DIN 15189-2008 accredited by the German DAkkS accreditation authority.
