On-site assessment of TB laboratory network in the frames of the WHO Review of Tuberculosis Control in Turkmenistan, conducted by Uladzimir Antonenka

29 January – 3 February, 2018

Laboratory mission conducted by Uladzimir Antonenka with the main focus on Drug Resistance Survey (2018) planning: 

• Moderation of round table discussion on DRS planning with managers of Center for Infectious Diseases, NTP, NRL and UNDP;

• Monitoring of laboratory quality indicators at NRL;

• Practical training on preparation of drugs working solutions for DST with regards to newly updated critical concentrations (CCs);

• Implementation of M. tuberculosis strain collection system for the sustainable storage of clinical isolates.

18 – 24 June, 2018

Laboratory mission conducted by Uladzimir Antonenka with the main focus on practical on-site training and monitoring of the DRS laboratory component : 

• Training on DST for new SL-drugs (LFX, LZD, PTO and MFX) on liquid media using BACTEC MGIT 960 system;

• Implementation of the internal quality control procedure for working drug solutions used for DST;

• Analysis of the laboratory component of the TB drug resistance survey (DRS);

• Revision of the existing TB laboratory diagnostic algorithm

Assessment of DRS laboratory component by Evgeni Sahalchyk.

• Laboratory data validation and verification;

• Selection and preparation of DRS isolates for shipment to SRL for following external quality assessment of DST results; 

• HR competency assessment;
