Description
Laboratory provides reference laboratory services for U.S. and international partners including molecular and phenotypic drug susceptibility testing. Additionally, efforts are focused on implementation of WHO-approved diagnostics under a robust quality management system. Applied and operations research are focused on improving understanding and detection of drug resistance and impact of new diagnostics on patient outcomes.
Structure and organization
SRLN activities are coordinated and carried out between the Division of Tuberculosis Elimination/ Laboratory Branch and the Division of Global HIV and TB/ International Laboratory Branch. Collectively, these branches include approximately 15 individuals engaged in SRLN support in some capacity.
Services provided by the SRL
Laboratory services include molecular and phenotypic drug susceptibility testing as well as distribution of TB molecular diagnostic and drug susceptibility proficiency testing panels. Technical assistance and consultation related to implementation of new diagnostics and laboratory continuous quality improvement are provided for CDC priority countries.
