ジュリー・クルーズのデビュー・アルバム。おそらく製作は『ツイン・ピークス』のパイロット版と平行して進められたと思われる。 リンチはインタビューで、出来上がっていた『ツイン・ピークス』の”画面を見ながら曲（テーマ曲の「Falling]） をアンジェロと作った”と語っている。
ジュリー・クルーズは大学でフレンチ・ホルンを学びオーケストラで演奏、 卒業後はオフ・ブロードウェイなどで数々のミュージカルに出演していた。 コーラスで参加していたカントリー＆ウエスタン・ミュージカルの音楽監督が アンジェロ・バダラメンティだった。
リンチが全ての歌詩を書き、バダラメンティが全作曲、二人のプロデュースによるこのアルバムは、TVシリーズ 『ツイン・ピークス』放映前にリリースされたが、当時ほとんど売れなかったのではないだろうか。 しかし『ツイン・ピークス』ブーム（ジュリーも出演してるし）のおかげで”フローティング・ミュージック”と名付けられ、 他のグッズと共に売れ行きも好調だったらしい。
リンチの書く歌詩はシンプルで、愛について書かれたものだ。素朴な言葉がバダラメンティの曲とジュリー・クルーズの歌声により、多くの感情を聴いている者に呼び起こす。 また、リンチの映画の何気ない（もちろん計算されているだろうが）シーンや細かく配慮されたディティールに似て、 いろいろなイメージを抱かせる。TVシリーズ『ツイン・ピークス』は張り詰めた（少なくとも第16話までは）愛の物語だった。捻れ、歪み、何一つとして 信じるもののない生活のなかで本当の愛を探し、愛を失った人々の物語だったと思っている。 そして、愛する人を失うことへの恐怖が暗黒への扉を開き、ボブが入り込んでくるのを許すのだと思った。このリンチの真直ぐな愛の表現は、『ツイン・ピークス』の世界を予告していたのだろう。

1989年11月10日、ニューヨークのブルックリン音楽院オペラ・ハウスで行われた、 ライヴ・パフォーマンスを収録したビデオ。 デイヴィッド・リンチはアンジェロ・バダラメンティと組み、 ジュリー・クルーズの歌をメインに舞台をプロデュースした。撮影中だった『ワイルド・アット・ハート』のニコラス・ケイジ、ローラ・ダーンが オープニング・シーンで別れてゆく男女を演じた。
ステージ上には鉄塔や壊れた車、給水塔、太いパイプ、高圧線といったインダストリアルなセットが用意され、 暗闇をサーチライトのように照らすライト、光るストロボ、這うようなスモーク、鳴り響くサイレンのなか、 純白の衣装に銀色の髪をしたジュリー・クルーズが登場、「Up In Flames」を歌い出す。周りでは、 吊り下げられた男や鉄塔に絡み付く半裸の女が...。「Into The Night」、「The World Spins」ではジュリー・クルーズが天上から吊り下げられ、 空中を漂いながら歌う、まさに”フローティング・ミュージック”。 演奏（効果音的なものを除き）や歌は録音されたものを使用している。
ジュリー・クルーズがアルバム『Floating Into The Night 』からのナンバーを歌い、 その合間にこのステージの為のインストの曲が流れ、即興のような劇が演じられる。「The Black Sea」では『ツイン・ピークス』の”異次元からの男”マイケル・アンダーソンが、丸太をノコギリで切り始め、 その音と青いライトにより、深い海の底にいるような感じを受ける。 「The Dream Conversation」はフルートを演奏する男（アンドレ・バダラメンティ）が「Up In Flames」を奏でる中、 アンダーソンが先のオープニング・シーンのセリフを朗読している。その他、巨大な血まみれの鹿をアンダーソンがライトで照らす「I'm Hurt Bad」も印象に残る。

日本でも爆発した『ツイン・ピークス』ブームを受け編集されたミニアルバム。 「Rockin' Back Inside My Heart 」のリミックス・バージョン4種が集められている。 リミキサーの名前などクレジットは無い。"Tibetan 12"Mix"はシングルカットされたバージョンと同じ。 "Bonus Beat"はインスト・バージョン、 "A Capella"はタイトル通りジュリーの歌と合間に流れるギターやサックスだけのアカペラ・バージョン。
「Rockin' Back Inside My Heart 」は『ツイン・ピークス』第14話に、 クーパーや丸太おばさんなどが集まったロードハウスでジュリーが出演して歌うシーンがある。 その後「The World Spins」を歌い出したところで、 巨人が現れクーパーにまた殺人が起きている事を告げるのだった。他は『Floating Into The Night』やサントラ『ツイン・ピークス』収録曲。

ジュリー・クルーズのセカンドアルバム。ジャケットはデイヴィッド・リンチの家の台所で、粘土にくるまれたチーズと七面鳥の肉で作った 人間の頭に群がる蟻をリンチ自身が撮影した写真を使用した。
1993年リリースのこの作品は前年に公開された『ツイン・ピークス／ローラ・パーマー最期の7日間』の世界を 色濃く残す仕上がりとなった。そのサントラにも収録されていた、 映画のオープニング・テーマ曲にリンチが歌詩をつけた「She Would Die For Love」はタイトルからしてローラ・パーマーを 思わせる。演奏はサントラと同じようだ。「Questions In A World Of Blue」も映画のサントラ収録曲。 「Voice Of Love」もサントラ収録曲にリンチが歌詩をつけたもの。演奏は新たに録り直しているようだ。 リンチの歌詩はローラ・パーマーが最後に見た光を思い出さずにはいられない。子守歌のようなアレンジ。
「Up In Flames」はココ・テイラーの歌で『ワイルド・アット・ハート』のサントラに収録されていた曲で、 アレンジはほぼ同じ。タイトル通りの燃え上がるような歌詩で、 ”サイレンが私を呼んでる～”と歌われているようにサイレンの音が使われている。 「Kool Kat Walk」も『ワイルド・アット・ハート』 のサントラに収録されていたインストルメンタル曲で、リンチがユーモラスな内容の歌詩をつけている。
呪術的とも思える導入部から”今夜、今夜は私達の夜”と歌われるサビの部分では開放感に満ちたメロディを持つ 「This Is Our Night」、フローティング感覚溢れる「Space For Love」、ジュリー・クルーズのバッキング・コーラスが 耳に残る「Movin' In On You」、「Friends For Life」では、まるで壊れるのを予期しているかのような友情が、 切ないメロディにのせて歌われている。「In My Other World」はジュリー・クルーズによる作詩。アルバム全体でリンチの歌詩は、絶望と暗闇の中に希望と光を見い出そうとしている。

リンチとバダラメンティの歌姫から離れたジュリー・クルーズは、 1996年公開の映画『スクリーム』のサウンドトラック・アルバムにThe Flowというバンドと 「Artificial World(Interdimensional Mix)」で参加したり、1999年にはHybridと共に「If I Survive」という シングルを出したりという活動をしていたが、 2002年ついに『Voice of Love』に続くフルアルバムをリリースした。
注目はヘンリー・マンシーニの曲「Slow Hot Wind」を取り上げていることや、 オープニング「You're Staring At Me」でマンシーニの「Till There Was You」をサンプリングしているところ。 そしてジャケットに表記は無いが"Special Bonus Track"として「Falling」が収録されている。 12曲目の「The Fire In Me」が終わり、ジュリーがシャワーを浴びながら鼻歌を歌っているSEのあと、 9分59秒くらいで「Falling」が始まる。わざわざ入れることは無かったんじゃないかって言う出来だけれど。
アルバム全体がクラブを意識したプロダクションでフローティング感はやや減少したが、 彼女のミステリアスなイメージは消えていない。
