Pandemic Modelling project is motivated by the outbreak of Covid-19. As we all know, the increase/growth of the infected is of exponential growth behavior under certain circumstances and a time period. Necessary precaution steps, such as isolation, social distancing, wearing facial masks, etc, must be taken in order to slow the spread of the virus.
What is exactly "exponential growth"? How does Pandemic really behave?
As a student of Math Lab class, it is one's meaningful learning task to answer these questions and take on the project of modelling the Pandemic growing behavior. Mathematical modelling is a complex and complected process. But with reasonable modifications, we made it suitable for high school level a science and math project. We limit our focus on the growing part of the pandemic behavior since the mitigation component is strongly political and social dependent. Without losing any generosity, this project is designed in such a way that the simplicity and meaningfulness is the aim. And it is not required to be in a fancy and/or complicated way. The ultimate goal of the project is twofold: we do math to understand the project; we do the project to understand math.
I am so proud of that everyone is a happy soul in such a difficult time. Like everything is a miracle, in this unkind time, our students endured and prevailed regardless of the discrepancies of their performance.
