CORE MATH
Program Description
The Common Core State Standards for Mathematical Practice were designed to reform the American education system, with three main goals: Provide graduating high school students with the skills they need to be successful either in the workforce or in post-secondary education.
Teacher Highlights
"The enthusiasm seen to test the resistance that the bridges could withstand was incredible"
- Mr Zamudio
"Observing teamwork on some projects with great skill and enthusiasm made me very proud"
- Mr Zamudio
Fractals
Students explore numerical patterns using fractals as a concrete reference of their behavior, the composition of repeated figures shows in this case an exponential behavior.
Parabolas
In this harmonic creation of curves you can explore how parables are produced from the harmonic movement of a pendulum.
Bridges
Triangulation, the use of parabolas and other elemental figures in the construction of wooden bridges allow us to explore the resistance of these figures in the manufacture of solid structures that can bear their own weight several times.
Origami
Exploring the construction of triangular shapes through origami construction offers us the possibility of observing the classification of triangles according to their angles and sides.
